We will be
departing Gillette, WY and continue as planned to Yellowstone National Park, on
the morning of day 3. We will be spending the complete day there.
Old Faithful Geyser: Located in the Upper Geyser Basin of
Yellowstone National Park, Old Faithful is a cone geyser. It is one of the most
famous natural features of the park, and is well-known for its inevitability. Eruption
generally occurs every 91 minutes.
Mammoth Hot Springs: This huge complex of hot springs is
spectacular for its scale and distinctive beauty. It was formed centuries ago by
volcanic and seismic activity.
Artist Point: This attractive place showcases one
of the most well-known views in Yellowstone National Park. It was named after
the popular sketches of the waterfalls by the artist, Thomas Moran.
West Thumb Geyser Basin: Being the largest geyser basin at
Yellowstone Lake, the West Thumb Geyser Basin is an imposing area of geothermal
activity that contains mud pots, hot springs and geysers.
Midway Geyser Basin: Relatively small in size as
compared to the others, the Midway Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park contains
a splendid amount of thermodynamic geologic activity.
Not just the biggest single body of water in
Yellowstone National Park, Yellowstone Lake is also the largest freshwater lake
in the United States. The lake is loaded with numerous underwater hot springs
that melt the thick ice sheets present in the water, in winter season.
Hotel: White Buffalo Hotel West Yellowstone or equivalent.
